Pinus flexilis ´Extra Blue´

Limber Pine
Zone: 4-7
10´ @ 10 years
4"-6" /year
Upright, irregular pyramid - partial sun

´Extra Blue´ was chosen for propagation because of its outstanding rich blue color. Its long, curved needles, clustered in groups of 5, are arranged densely on a form that is an upright, slightly irregular pyramid.  This steel-blue beauty will fit perfectly into the larger garden or landscape area.  It is easy to care for, being fairly drought tolerant, and needing little or no pruning.  In extremely warm climates, it may do better when put in an area where it gets a little afternoon relief from the intense rays of the sun. The straight species of Limber Pine, a native to the western United States, can live to be very old plants, with cases of 1,500 or even 2,000 year old trees found in northeast Oregon!  While we cannot promise that kind of longevity, ´Extra Blue´ will be a beautiful addition to your garden area for many years to come.
